It came in the hands of a French bishop and remained forever in the hearts of the people of Porto.
The fleet belonged to the Gascons and came to the port to liberate the city. Dom Nónego, the bishop of Vendome in France, stayed here to also be a bishop in this land. After the city walls were rebuilt, he ordered the placement of Our Lady of Vandoma to protect the main entrance gate to Porto. The Gate of Vandoma created the idea of a place, and following Our Lady, it also became a fair, with its name wandering through the city until settling in the area now known by that name.
